Down River Bread of Life Nutrition Center

Then the King will say to those at His right hand, 'Come, O blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed Me, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you came to Me.'  Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see Thee hungry and feed Thee, or thirsty and give Thee drink?  And when did we see Thee a stranger and welcome Thee, or naked and clothe Thee?  And when did we see Thee in prison and visit Thee?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, YOU DID IT TO ME.'

--  Matthew 25:34-40 RSV

The Down River Bread of Life Nutrition Center at St. Martin's exists to serve our Lord Jesus Christ in "the least of these" by providing food, encouragement, dignity, and hope in His Name to those in need.  It accomplishes this goal by hosting a monthly Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.

FOOD PANTRY

The DBLNC Food Pantry is open the FIRST TWO MONDAYS of every month (except holiday Mondays),

9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The Food Pantry provides food as well as personal hygiene products.

SUPPORT

The DBLNC is able to provide assistance because of the wonderful and generous support of its donors and volunteers.  We give thanks to God for all of our volunteers, as well as those wonderful businesses and groups that support us on an ongoing basis:

  • Nieman's Family Market in St. Clair
  • VG's Supermarket in Marine City
  • The United Way
  • Zion Lutheran Church Foundation of Detroit, MI
  • Post Office food drives
  • Marine City High School Homecoming Parade
  • Local churches and their organizations which collect food and other needed items
  • Individual's donations of both food and financial contributions
  • And more!

May God bless all of these individuals and organizations for enabling us to continue to minister in Jesus' Name!

I WOULD LIKE TO HELP!

We would love to receive whatever help you might be willing to afford.  Volunteers are always needed for the Food Pantry.  Please contact the Church Office and we will be glad to put you into contact with people who are able to get you connected to serve!

Of course, financial contributions and donations of food are also gladly received.  Financial contributions may be mailed to the DBLNC in care of St. Martin's.  Food may be dropped off at the church during regular business hours, or by contacting the Church Office to make other arrangements.

Whatever assistance you may be able to afford, whether that be for an hour or two, a day or two, or more, know that we sincerely appreciate you and your sharing.

I'M IN NEED OF HELP!

The DBLNC serves all who come to it for assistance and does not judge or discriminate.  While we do serve a specific geographical area, if you come to us from outside of that area, we will be happy to assist you and then refer you to an agency in your area where you can receive future assistance.  Please be sure to bring some form of identification with you.  PLEASE NOTE: Neither the Down River Bread of Life Nutrition Center nor St. Martin's Lutheran Church offers financial assistance.
